Mark Renton, a heroin user, navigates a chaotic world filled with poor choices and fleeting attempts at recovery, alongside his unpredictable friends—Sick Boy, Begbie, Spud, and Tommy. He also becomes involved with Diane, a girl younger than him, who shares in his tumultuous journey. After attempting to start anew in London, Mark discovers that leaving his past behind is more challenging than anticipated when Begbie and Sick Boy re-enter his life, pulling him back into the shadows of addiction.
