Adam James
Biography
Adam James, born on September 9, 1972, is a distinguished British actor whose career spans both television and theater. He honed his craft at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he graduated in 1996. Early in his career, James garnered attention for his performance at the Royal Exchange, earning a Best Newcomer nomination at the M.E.N awards. He rose to prominence in 2001 with his role in the critically acclaimed miniseries "Band of Brothers."
Following this breakthrough, he showcased his versatility through guest appearances in popular series such as "Extras," "Ashes to Ashes," "Hustle," "Doctor Who," and "Foyle's War." In 2010, he captivated audiences in New York with his performance in "The Pride," alongside notable actors Ben Whishaw and Andrea Riseborough. His work earned him the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Actor in a Featured Role and a Drama Desk nomination.
James continued to excel, returning to Broadway in 2016 with the acclaimed play "King Charles III," for which he received the Clarence Derwent Award for Best Supporting Actor. His collaboration with playwright Mike Bartlett included the hit series "Doctor Foster" and a TV film adaptation of "King Charles III" for BBC2.
More recently, he has appeared in the Olivier Award-winning "Girl From The North Country" at the Noel Coward Theatre and the highly praised "Consent" at the National Theatre. His television credits include Julian Fellowes' "Belgravia" and Michaela Coel's groundbreaking series "I May Destroy You." Adam is also a family man, having married former actress Victoria Shalet in 2015, with whom he shares a son, as well as an adult daughter from a previous relationship.
