Toshiyuki Nishida (西田 敏行, Nishida Toshiyuki), born on November 4, 1947, and passing away on October 17, 2024, was a renowned Japanese actor. Throughout his illustrious career, he garnered significant recognition, including two prestigious Japanese Academy Awards for Best Actor for his performances in The Silk Road (1988) and Tsuribaka Nisshi 6 (1993). In addition, he received the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Actor for his roles in Get Up! and Tsuribaka Nisshi 14 (2003).
Internationally, Nishida is perhaps best remembered for his portrayal of Pigsy, or Cho Hakkai, in the beloved television series Monkey.
