Zabou Breitman
Biography
Zabou Breitman, born Isabelle Breitman on October 30, 1959, is a distinguished French actress and director, renowned for her diverse contributions to film and theater. Coming from a family of performers, with her parents being Jean-Claude Deret and Céline Léger, Zabou stepped into the cinematic world at the tender age of four, marking the beginning of a prolific career. Since 1981, she has built an impressive portfolio, showcasing her talent across a multitude of films, television movies, and theatrical productions.
In 2001, she made her directorial debut with "Se souvenir des belles choses," a poignant film that earned her the prestigious César Award for Best Debut, highlighting her adeptness behind the camera. Zabou's stage presence was also notable when she portrayed Lucille Cadeau in the London debut of Alan Ayckbourn's "House & Garden" at the National Theatre in 2000, further solidifying her status in the performing arts.
Beyond her professional achievements, Zabou is a devoted mother to two children, Anna, born in 1990, and Antonin, born in 1993, from her relationship with sculptor Fabien Chalon. In 2012, she ventured into new experiences by participating in the documentary series "Rendez-vous en terre inconnue," where she continued to explore the human experience through her work.
