Initially, she modeled under the names Jamie King and James King, a childhood nickname given by her parents due to her agency already representing another well-known model, Jaime Rishar.

Transitioning from modeling to acting, she started with minor roles in films before landing a significant part in the epic war film Pearl Harbor (2001).
