Marian Hall Seldes (August 23, 1928 – October 6, 2014) was a distinguished American actress known for her exceptional contributions to theater. Throughout her illustrious career, she garnered five nominations for the prestigious Tony Award, ultimately winning the award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her remarkable performance in A Delicate Balance in 1967. Her talent was further recognized with nominations for her roles in Father’s Day (1971), Deathtrap (1978–82), Ring Round the Moon (1999), and Dinner at Eight (2002). Additionally, Seldes earned a Drama Desk Award for her work in Father’s Day.
Seldes's Broadway presence was significant, with notable performances in productions such as Equus (1974–77), Ivanov (1997), and Deuce (2007). Her enduring impact on the theatrical landscape was acknowledged when she was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1995. In 2010, she received the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement, celebrating her remarkable contributions to the performing arts.
