Biography
Nicholas Woodeson, born on November 30, 1949, is a distinguished English actor recognized for his extensive work in film, television, and theatre. He began his life in Sudan and spent his formative years in the Middle East before moving to the UK, where he discovered his passion for acting at prep school in Sussex and Marlborough College. He pursued English studies at the University of Sussex, immersing himself in student theatre alongside future colleagues like Michael Attenborough and Jim Carter. His career took off with a season at the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe, leading him to earn a scholarship to the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Woodeson's professional journey commenced at the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool, where he shared the stage with notable actors such as Jonathan Pryce and Julie Walters. He became a prominent figure in regional and West End theatre, joining the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in 1982 and staying for seven years. His Broadway credits include roles in "Man and Superman," "Piaf," and "An Inspector Calls." In 2011, he featured in the National Theatre's revival of "Rocket to the Moon."
In 2017, Woodeson stepped into the role of Willy Loman in "Death of a Salesman," earning a UK Theatre Award nomination. His film credits span a diverse range, including "Heaven's Gate," "The Pelican Brief," "Skyfall," and "The Danish Girl."
