Biography

Pollyanna McIntosh, born in Scotland, spent her early years in Portugal and Colombia before returning to her roots to explore the performing arts at The Edinburgh Festival. At just 16, she moved to London, diving into the world of indie films and theatre. Her first notable role came in 1998 with a paid gig as a stoner in Irvine Welsh's film, The Acid House. In 2004, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she directed a critically acclaimed production of "The Woolgatherer," featuring Anne Dudek and David Dayan Fisher.

McIntosh's breakthrough in American cinema arrived in 2005 with her portrayal of the manipulative "Stacy" in Headspace. However, it was her performance as the wild "Thumper Wint" in the comedy Sex and Death 101 (2007) that garnered significant attention, showcasing her blend of sexuality and humor. Her role in the BAFTA-nominated film Exam (2009) further solidified her status, with critics praising her emotional depth.

She displayed her versatility in diverse roles, such as the disgruntled wife in Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) and as Isla Fisher's friend in Burke and Hare (2010). Notably, her lead role in Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011) earned her multiple Best Actress awards, making waves at Sundance.
