Henry Corden
Biography
Henry Corden, originally named Henry Cohen, was a talented Canadian-born American actor and voice artist, celebrated for his work in animation and television. Born on January 6, 1920, Corden became widely recognized for his portrayal of Fred Flintstone, stepping into the iconic role following Alan Reed's passing in 1977. His first performance as the beloved caveman occurred in the syndicated series *Fred Flintstone and Friends*, where he voiced brief segments that aired between show clips.
Prior to this, Corden had already made his mark within the Flintstones universe by providing the singing voice for Reed in the 1966 animated film *The Man Called Flintstone*. This early involvement laid the groundwork for his later success in bringing the character to life after Reed’s death. Corden's rich, distinctive voice became synonymous with Fred Flintstone, and he continued to voice the character in various projects, including the series *The Flintstone Comedy Hour* and the animated television specials throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
In addition to his work as Fred, Corden's career spanned several decades and included appearances in live-action roles and contributions to numerous other animated series. He left a lasting legacy in the world of voice acting before his passing on May 19, 2005, remembered fondly by fans of the show and the animation community alike.
