Grażyna Szapołowska, born on September 19, 1953, is a distinguished Polish actress renowned for her captivating performances in both film and theatre. Following her completion of secondary education, she began her artistic journey at the Wroclaw Theatre of Pantomime before graduating from the Theatre Art School in Warsaw in 1977.
Szapołowska spent a significant portion of her early career with the National Theatre in Warsaw, where she was a key member of the theatrical company from 1977 to 1984. Her film career took off with notable collaborations with acclaimed director Krzysztof Kieślowski. She gained widespread recognition for her role in "A Short Film About Love" (1988), a poignant exploration of love and intimacy, which was developed from the sixth episode of the acclaimed series "Dekalog." Notably, Szapołowska contributed creatively to the project, suggesting an alternative ending for the feature-length film.
Earlier, she had appeared in Kieślowski’s film "Bez końca," further solidifying her partnership with the influential director. Throughout her career, Szapołowska has been celebrated for her versatility and depth as an actress, making her a prominent figure in Polish cinema and theatre.
