Richard Mofe-Damijo
Biography
Richard Mofe-Damijo, widely recognized as RMD, was born on July 6, 1961, in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. He is an acclaimed Nigerian actor and politician whose contributions to the entertainment industry have established him as a prominent figure. Mofe-Damijo gained significant recognition in 2005 when he clinched the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, further solidifying his status in Nollywood.
His early education took place in Warri, where he attended Midwest College and Anglican Grammar School, participating actively in the Drama Club, which ignited his passion for acting. He later pursued a degree in Theatre Arts at the University of Benin. In a remarkable career transition, Mofe-Damijo returned to academia in 1997, this time to study law at the University of Lagos, from which he graduated in 2004.
In addition to his acting career, Mofe-Damijo has made significant contributions to public service. Since January 2009, he has served as the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State, where he has worked to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of his home state. Richard Mofe-Damijo continues to inspire many with his multifaceted career and dedication to both the arts and public service.
