Lung Fong

Biography

Lung Fong, born Li Chien-Min, was a notable actor, film director, and action choreographer from Hong Kong. He gained recognition among audiences for his frequent roles as antagonists in various films, particularly those produced by Wong Jing. Tragically, Lung passed away from lung cancer in 2008 after stepping away from the film scene. His career began in the 1970s, during which he took on minor roles in adult films and martial arts productions. In 1981, Lung decided to retire from acting after a string of disappointing films. However, a pivotal moment came in 1989 when Wong Jing sought an actor to portray a villain in the film Casino Raiders. A restaurant manager recommended Lung for the role, which ultimately marked a significant turning point in his career. His performance earned him a nomination for the "Best New Performer" award at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Following this breakthrough, Lung left his position in the restaurant industry and went on to portray a variety of villains over the next decade. In 2000, he once again retired from acting, opting to relocate to Mainland China where he transitioned into business. Lung Fong's legacy endures, particularly for his impactful roles in Hong Kong cinema.
