Biography

Martin P. Robinson, born on March 9, 1954, in Dearborn, Michigan, is a distinguished puppeteer affiliated with the Jim Henson Company. He gained early recognition as the builder, designer, and performer of puppets for the iconic musical "Little Shop of Horrors." However, he is perhaps most celebrated for his extensive contributions to "Sesame Street," where he has brought to life beloved characters such as Telly Monster, Slimey the Worm, Mr. Snuffleupagus, and Tony the Turtle over a remarkable span of more than two decades.

Beyond "Sesame Street," Robinson showcased his versatility by performing the character Riff on "Allegra's Window" and taking on the role of an animatronic puppeteer for Leonardo in the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" franchise. His expertise also extends to training puppeteers on "Sesame Tree," highlighting his commitment to nurturing the next generation of performers.

After completing his education at Brookfield East High School in Brookfield, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee, Robinson's career flourished in the world of puppetry. On a personal note, he married Annie Evans on August 9, 2008, in a charming ceremony held on the set of "Sesame Street" at Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens, New York. Robinson's enduring legacy in puppetry continues to inspire audiences and aspiring puppeteers alike.
