Biography

Patrick Lindesay Archibald Godfrey, born on February 13, 1933, is a distinguished English actor known for his work across film, television, and stage. He hails from Finsbury, London, where he was born to Reverend Frederick Godfrey and Lois Mary Gladys (née Turner).

In 1956, Godfrey began his career in the performing arts by securing the Carleton Hobbs Bursary, which led him to join the Radio Drama Company. His film career commenced with a role in Miss Julie in 1972. Over the following decades, he appeared in a number of notable British films throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, including acclaimed works such as A Room with a View, The Remains of the Day, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Count of Monte Cristo, Dimensions, and Les Misérables. One of his memorable performances was portraying Leonardo da Vinci in the film Ever After, which starred Drew Barrymore and Dougray Scott.

Godfrey's television credits are extensive, with appearances in popular series such as Doctor Who and Inspector Morse, among others. His versatile talent has made him a recognizable figure in the entertainment industry, and he continues to be celebrated for his contributions to the arts.
