Maeve Dermody
Biography
Maeve Dermody, born on November 2, 1985, is an accomplished Australian actress based in the UK, known for her diverse roles across film, television, and theatre. Dermody’s journey in acting began at the tender age of five when she made her film debut. As a teenager, she secured parts in various Australian TV series, including the popular medical drama All Saints (1998), along with several short films.
Her breakout film role came in the 2007 independent thriller Black Water, which garnered her several nominations for Best Supporting Actress within the Australian film industry. Following this success, she delivered another notable performance in Beautiful Kate (2009), further earning her an AFI nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Dermody took on a lead role in the 2010 feature Griff the Invisible and later starred in the 2012 miniseries Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms. In 2013, she portrayed Claire Simpson in the 10-part drama series Serangoon Road, co-produced by Australia and Singapore. Her portrayal of Vera Claythorne in the 2015 BBC One adaptation of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None showcased her versatility in thrilling roles.
Additionally, Dermody has made significant contributions to the Australian theatre scene, performing in acclaimed productions such as Killer Joe, Measure for Measure, Our Town, and The Seagull, with major theatre companies in Sydney.
