Sally Kirkland
Biography
Sally Kirkland, born on October 31, 1941, is a prominent American actress and producer who has made significant contributions to film, television, and theater over the span of her 60-year career. As a former member of Andy Warhol's The Factory and a notable figure in the avant-garde theater scene of 1960s New York, she has participated in over 250 projects across various media. Kirkland is the daughter of a fashion editor associated with Life magazine and Vogue, also named Sally Kirkland.
In 1987, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her exceptional role in the film Anna, although she ultimately lost the award to Cher, who was honored for her performance in Moonstruck. Nonetheless, Kirkland secured a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her work in Anna, and she was also recognized with accolades from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Independent Spirit Awards. In addition to her acclaimed performance in Anna, she garnered a second Golden Globe nomination for her role in the miniseries The Haunted (1991). Kirkland is also well-regarded for her performances in films such as Cold Feet (1989), Best of the Best (1989), JFK (1991), and Bruce Almighty (2003).
