Christopher Peter Meloni, born on April 2, 1961, is a prominent American actor renowned for his compelling performances in both television and film. He gained widespread acclaim for his portrayal of NYPD Detective Elliot Stabler on the hit NBC series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, a role he held until 2013. Meloni made a triumphant return to the franchise as a series regular on the 2021 spinoff, Law & Order: Organized Crime. His work on SVU earned him an Emmy Award nomination in 2006 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
