Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury DBE (October 16, 1925 - October 11, 2022) was a distinguished British-American actress and singer whose illustrious career spanned nearly eight decades, predominantly in the United States. Renowned for her versatility, Lansbury captivated audiences across theater, television, and film, earning international acclaim for her performances.

Lansbury made her cinematic debut in the 1944 classic Gaslight, portraying a duplicitous maid, which garnered her an Academy Award nomination. Her remarkable filmography includes notable works such as The Manchurian Candidate (1962), the enchanting Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971), and the animated favorites Beauty and the Beast (1991) and Anastasia (1997).

In the 1950s, Lansbury transitioned to Broadway, shining in musical theater with standout performances in productions like Gypsy, Mame, and Sweeney Todd. However, she became a household name through her iconic role as Jessica Fletcher, the astute crime novelist and amateur detective, in the beloved television series Murder, She Wrote, which aired from 1984 to 1996.

In her later years, Lansbury continued to dazzle audiences with roles such as Lady Adelaide Stitch in Nanny McPhee (2005), Leona Mullen in Deuce (2007), and Madame Arcati in the 2009 revival of Blithe Spirit.
