Richard Bohringer

Biography

Richard Bohringer is a multifaceted French talent known for his work as an actor, singer, writer, and director. He is the proud father of actresses Romane Bohringer and Lou Bohringer.

Born in Moulins, Allier, France, to Huguette Foucault, a French national, and a German father, Bohringer's early life was shaped by the tumult of World War II. His parents' circumstances led to his upbringing by his maternal grandmother in Deuil-La Barre, while his father was a prisoner of war. Despite these challenging beginnings, Bohringer cherishes the joyful memories of his childhood.

His theatrical journey began in the late 1960s with the play *Les Girafes*, produced by Claude Lelouch. He transitioned to film in 1970 with *La Maison*, directed by Gérard Brach. A pivotal moment in his career came in 1972 with a role in *L'Italien des Roses*, but it was in the early 1980s that he truly rose to prominence, particularly with the film *Diva* (1981). Bohringer earned acclaim, winning César Awards for his performances in *L'Addition* (1984) and *The Grand Highway* (1987).

His filmography includes notable works such as *Subway* (1985) and *Une époque formidable...* (1991), along with collaborations with Jean-Pierre Mocky. In 1992, he starred alongside Romane in Claude Miller's *The Accompanist*.

In the 1990s, Bohringer became the host of *Mission Appolo* on Antenne 2 and later appeared in *Tango* (1993). He returned to television for the series *Un homme en colère* (1997–2002).
