Biography

Jim Broadbent, born on May 24, 1949, is a distinguished English actor renowned for his versatile performances across film, television, and stage. He gained significant acclaim for his portrayal of John Bayley in the biographical film Iris (2001), earning both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. Additionally, his compelling performance as Lord Longford in the television drama Longford (2006) garnered him a BAFTA TV Award and another Golden Globe. Broadbent's remarkable talent was also recognized with a BAFTA Film Award for his role in the musical Moulin Rouge! (2001), along with four nominations throughout his career.

A graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 1972, Broadbent's career took off in the 1980s, where he became a familiar face in television comedy, notably as Roy Slater in the beloved BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses.
