Biography

Stelio Savante, a South African native now thriving in New York, boasts a remarkable career spanning over thirty years, marked by award-winning performances across a diverse range of media, including major studio films, independent cinema, prime-time television, and the New York theater scene. He began making his mark with minor roles in notable productions such as Ron Howard's A Beautiful Mind (2001), where he appeared alongside Russell Crowe, and in David Chase's acclaimed series The Sopranos (1999) as the character Gaetano.

Savante's career took a significant turn in 2005 when he landed a leading role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, directed by Oscar winner Juan José Campanella. His portrayal of the complex fundamentalist Milan Zergin opposite stars like Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni garnered critical acclaim. He also made history as South Africa's first male nominee for a SAG Award for Ensemble Comedy Performance with a recurring role on Ugly Betty (2006).
