Johnny Wang Lung-Wei (王龙威), born on July 14, 1949, is a distinguished figure in the realm of Hong Kong cinema, celebrated for his multifaceted talents as a martial artist, actor, director, producer, and action choreographer. With a prolific career spanning over 80 kung fu films, particularly for the renowned Shaw Brothers Studios, Wang has left an indelible mark on the martial arts genre.
He made his debut with Shaw Brothers in the film "Five Shaolin Masters," directed by Chang Cheh, where he portrayed the treacherous character Ma Fu Yi. This role established a recurring theme in his career, often finding him cast as the antagonist in various productions. Notably, his performance in "Martial Club" showcased a rare departure from this villainous typecasting, highlighting his versatility as an actor.
In 1985, Wang transitioned to a behind-the-scenes role, taking on responsibilities as a fight choreographer, writer, and director. His work in this capacity includes noteworthy films such as "Hong Kong Godfather," where he skillfully combined storytelling with dynamic action sequences.
