Biography
Nicholas Farrell, born Nicholas Frost in 1955, is a distinguished English actor renowned for his contributions to stage, film, and television. He first garnered attention in the early 1980s with his portrayal of Aubrey Montague in the acclaimed film "Chariots of Fire" (1981). This was followed by his performance as Edmund Bertram in the 1983 television adaptation of Jane Austen’s "Mansfield Park." Farrell's versatility was further showcased in 1984 with roles in both "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes" and "The Jewel in the Crown."
Throughout his career, Farrell has been a prominent figure in several Shakespearean adaptations. He played Horatio in Kenneth Branagh’s 1996 film "Hamlet," reprising a role he previously performed with Branagh at the Royal Shakespeare Company. His other Shakespearean credits include "Twelfth Night" (1996) and "Othello" (1995), and he lent his voice to the character of Hamlet in the animated series "Shakespeare: The Animated Tales" (1992).
Farrell's television repertoire is extensive, featuring appearances in notable series such as "Agatha Christie's Poirot," "Torchwood," and "Foyle's War." His stage work is equally impressive, including performances in classics like "The Crucible," "The Merchant of Venice," and "Julius Caesar."
