Biography

Serge Houde, born on February 16, 1953, is a Canadian actor recognized for his work in film and television. He gained significant acclaim for his portrayal of the infamous Chicago mobster Sam Giancana in Jon Cassar's Emmy-nominated miniseries, The Kennedys, where he acted alongside Tom Wilkinson and Barry Pepper. GQ's Tom Carson praised Houde’s performance, describing him as "a terrific Sam Giancana," and noted the intriguing dynamic between Giancana and Joe Kennedy, suggesting it would alarm those who hold Camelot in high regard. Houde embarked on his acting journey later in life, at the age of 35, and boasts a diverse portfolio of over 160 roles across various productions.

In addition to his work in The Kennedys, Houde featured in the 2011 film 50/50, starring alongside Seth Rogen, where he played the father of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character and the husband of Anjelica Huston's character, who was battling Alzheimer's disease. He took on the role of The Doctor in episode 9 of Mortal Kombat: Legacy, a web series inspired by the popular video game, directed by Kevin Tancharoen. In 2014, he earned a Leo Award nomination for Best Guest Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series for his part as drug lord David Thorpe in CTV's undercover cop drama, Played. The following year, he received recognition for his poignant performance as a homeless individual with Tourette's syndrome in the acclaimed Canadian series 19-2.
