Ayumi Ito
Biography
Born in Tokyo, Ayumi Ito has harbored a lifelong passion for film and the arts. She burst onto the cinematic scene with her debut in Nobuhiko Obayashi's *The Water Travelers: Samurai Kids*. Ayumi quickly garnered acclaim for her remarkable performance in *Swallowtail Butterfly*, directed by the celebrated Shunji Iwai. At the age of 16, she received both the Best New Actress and Best Supporting Actress Awards at the 20th Annual Japanese Academy Awards, marking a significant milestone in her early career.
Since then, Ayumi's career has flourished, leading her to prominent roles in a variety of successful films and television series. Her training in Los Angeles and New York has equipped her to work with esteemed international directors, including the acclaimed Chinese artist Zhuangzhuang Tian and Michel Gondry, known for *Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind*. Her standout performance in the Fuji TV drama *Belle de Jour* led to her reprising the role in a feature film adaptation, which became a massive success, grossing over 2.3 billion JPY. Additionally, Ayumi lent her voice to Tifa Lockhart in the animated film *Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children*. Beyond acting, she is also an accomplished vocalist and recording artist, continually drawing on her artistic passion to create compelling performances.
