Biography

Alexander Stephen Hassell, born on September 7, 1980, is a distinguished English actor and co-founder of The Factory Theatre Company. Originating from Southend, England, he is the youngest of four siblings raised by a vicar. His journey into acting began with his education at Moulsham High School in Chelmsford, Essex, where he completed his GCSEs and A-Levels before honing his craft at the Central School of Speech and Drama.

Hassell has made a significant mark in the theater world, notably portraying Hal in the Royal Shakespeare Company's productions of Henry IV Parts I and II, and taking on the role of Henry in Henry V. His transition to film was marked by his appearance in George Clooney's 2017 film Suburbicon, which served as his Hollywood debut. That same year, he gained recognition in television with his role in the BBC's adaptation of Jessie Burton's novel The Miniaturist, which premiered on Boxing Day.

In 2019, Hassell captivated audiences as Translucent in the acclaimed Amazon Prime series The Boys. He further showcased his versatility in 2021 by playing Vicious in Netflix's live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. Throughout his career, Hassell has consistently demonstrated his talent across various mediums, earning a reputation as a dynamic presence in contemporary entertainment.
