John Lupton

Biography

John Rollin Lupton (August 23, 1928 - November 3, 1993) was a notable American actor known for his work in film and television. After completing his education at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, Lupton quickly found opportunities on stage before being signed as a contract player with MGM in Hollywood. Though he possessed a striking resemblance to stars like James Stewart and Henry Fonda, he never reached the same level of fame.

During the 1954-1955 television season, Lupton made a mark by portraying a college student in the CBS sitcom, The Halls of Ivy. He gained further recognition in 1957 when he joined the cast of the ABC western series, Broken Arrow, which enjoyed a two-season run. His film career includes memorable performances, particularly as "Sister Mary" in Battle Cry and in the cult classic Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter.

In addition to his film roles, Lupton co-starred alongside Fess Parker in Disney's The Great Locomotive Chase in 1956 and made guest appearances on various television shows. Notable among these were the 1961-1962 crime drama Target: The Corruptors! on ABC, featuring Stephen McNally, and NBC's Daniel Boone. Lupton's contributions to the entertainment industry left a lasting impact, even if he never achieved the superstardom of his contemporaries.
