Vera June Miles (born August 23, 1929) is a renowned American actress whose career has spanned several decades. She was born in Boise City, Oklahoma, and later attended schools in Pratt and Wichita, Kansas. Miles garnered attention early in her life when she earned the title of "Miss Kansas" in 1948, paving her way into Hollywood, where she began to land minor roles in films and television.

Her breakthrough came when she caught the eye of iconic directors Alfred Hitchcock and John Ford. Ford cast her in the classic western The Searchers (1956), while Hitchcock, who dubbed her his "new Grace Kelly," featured her alongside Henry Fonda in The Wrong Man (1956). Although Miles was initially set to star as Judy Barton in Vertigo (1958), she withdrew due to pregnancy. Nevertheless, Hitchcock later cast her in Psycho (1960), a role that solidified her status in the film industry.

Miles also showcased her talent in films like Beau James (1957) with Bob Hope, The FBI Story (1959) opposite Jimmy Stewart, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) alongside John Wayne. Her versatile performances extended to numerous popular television series, including The Twilight Zone (1959), The Fugitive (1963), and Murder, She Wrote (1984). In 1983, she reprised her role as Lila Crane in Psycho II. Despite facing challenges in fully showcasing her talents, Vera Miles' captivating beauty and remarkable abilities have left an indelible mark on Hollywood. She retired in 1995, concluding a distinctive career.
