Dominique Pinon
Biography
Dominique Pinon began his journey in the arts at the Faculty of Arts in Poitiers before relocating to Paris, where he studied at the Cours Simon acting school. His cinematic debut occurred in 1981 with a role in Jean-Jacques Beineix’s film Diva.
Primarily recognized as a theatre actor, Pinon has demonstrated a strong commitment to live performance since 1985, participating in productions by notable directors such as Gildas Bourdet, Jorge Lavelli, and Valère Novarina, among many others.
Over the course of his film career, which boasts over 80 titles, Pinon has established a notable partnership with director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. His work with Jeunet includes eight films released between 1990 and 2013, with standout roles in Delicatessen (1991), Alien Resurrection (1997), and Amélie (2001), which helped him gain significant recognition beyond France.
In addition to his film endeavors, Pinon has made a variety of appearances on French television, both in films and series. Recently, he portrayed Master Raymond in the second season of the acclaimed series Outlander, marking his return to international television.
In recognition of his talent, he received the Molière award for Best Actor in 2004 and was honored with the title of Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2014.
