Jamal Woolard, born on July 8, 1975, is an accomplished American rapper and actor, renowned for his role as The Notorious B.I.G. in the biographical film "Notorious." Hailing from Brooklyn's Lafayette Gardens, Woolard shares roots with the late hip-hop legend Christopher Wallace. In the music scene, he is known by his stage name "Gravy." Notably, he contributed to Tupac Shakur's track "Untouchable," featured on the album "Pac's Life."
Woolard's career faced a significant incident in 2006 when he was shot in the buttocks near the Hot 97 radio station. Following this event, he made a candid appearance on the Funkmaster Flex show, discussing the ordeal. However, his music faced a ban at the station due to a policy prohibiting airplay for artists involved in altercations on the premises.
On January 16, 2009, during the premiere of "Notorious" in Greensboro, North Carolina, a shooting occurred around 9:00 p.m., prompting the evacuation of the theater. Fortunately, the victim received medical attention at a local hospital and was later discharged.
