Biography
Jake Gyllenhaal, born on December 19, 1980, is a prominent American actor and producer. Hailing from a creative lineage, he is the son of director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner, and the brother of actress Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Gyllenhaal's acting journey began in childhood, with his first appearance in City Slickers (1991), followed by roles in A Dangerous Woman (1993) and Homegrown (1998). His breakout performances came with October Sky (1999) and the cult classic Donnie Darko (2001). He gained further recognition in 2004 with The Day After Tomorrow and received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Jack Twist in Brokeback Mountain (2005), earning him a BAFTA Award and an Academy Award nomination.
