Polly Bergen, born Nellie Paulina Burgin on July 14, 1930, was a multifaceted American talent who made her mark as an actress, singer, television host, writer, and entrepreneur. Throughout her illustrious career, Bergen garnered significant acclaim, notably winning an Emmy Award in 1958 for her portrayal of Helen Morgan in *The Helen Morgan Story*. Her prowess on stage earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Carlotta Campion in the acclaimed 2001 production of *Follies*.
Bergen's film career included memorable performances in *Cape Fear* (1962) and *The Caretakers* (1963), the latter earning her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. She also ventured into television, hosting *The Polly Bergen Show*, a weekly variety program, and serving as a regular panelist on the game show *To Tell The Truth*. In her later years, she appeared in notable series such as *The Sopranos* and *Desperate Housewives*, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
