Arlene Dahl
Biography
Arlene Carol Dahl (August 11, 1925 – November 29, 2021) was an American actress renowned for her work in films beginning in the late 1940s. She stood as one of the final remaining stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood and was also a successful entrepreneur and author. Dahl established two businesses, including Arlene Dahl Enterprises and Dahlia, a company specializing in fragrances.
Hailing from Minnesota and born to Norwegian immigrant parents, Dahl embarked on her career in musicals before making her mark in cinema. She became well-known for her roles in notable MGM films like "My Wild Irish Rose" (1947) and "The Bride Goes Wild" (1948). Additionally, she featured in adventure films such as "Caribbean Gold" (1952) and "Desert Legion" (1953).
Although Dahl enjoyed a prosperous acting career, she confronted financial difficulties, which led her to declare bankruptcy in 1981. Subsequently, she pivoted to astrology, where she wrote a syndicated column and managed a premium phoneline service. Over the years, she authored several books focused on beauty and astrology.
In her personal journey, Dahl was married six times, with notable spouses including actors Lex Barker and Fernando Lamas. She had three children, the eldest being actor Lorenzo Lamas. Until her passing in 2021, she split her time between New York City and West Palm Beach, Florida.
