Mark Heap, born on May 13, 1957, is a distinguished British actor and comedian whose career spans several decades. He has made notable contributions to television and film, with a rich portfolio that includes memorable appearances in series such as *Ghost Train* (1991), *Brass Eye* (1997-2001), *Spaced* (1999-2001), *Green Wing* (2004-2007), and *Friday Night Dinner* (2011-2020). His film credits encompass roles in *About a Boy* (2002), *Stardust* (2007), and *The World's End* (2013), showcasing his versatility across genres.
Heap was born in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India, to an English father and an American mother. He grew up in Wales before relocating to northern England. His acting journey began in the 1970s with the Medieval Players, a touring theatre company where he honed his craft through performances that included stilt-walking and puppetry. He later formed a street theatre duo, The Two Marks, alongside Mark Saban.
A key highlight of Heap's career was his role in the acclaimed sketch series *Big Train* (1998-2002), where he starred alongside rising comedy talents like Simon Pegg and Catherine Tate. He is also recognized for his voice role as Eric Feeble in the animated series *Stressed Eric*, and his portrayals of characters such as Dr. Alan Statham in *Green Wing* and Charles Dickens in *Desperate Romantics* (2009). Other notable roles include his performance in the BBC drama *Lark Rise to Candleford* and the comedic series *Love Soup*.
