Biography
Ariane Ascaride, born on October 10, 1954, is a notable French actress and screenwriter renowned for her impactful contributions to cinema. She gained recognition through her roles in acclaimed films such as "Marius et Jeannette," "Ma vraie vie à Rouen" (also known as "My Life on Ice" in the USA), and "À la place du coeur" ("Where the Heart Is"). Ascaride not only acted in the film "Le Voyage en Arménie" ("Armenia") but also co-wrote its screenplay, showcasing her versatility in the film industry.
Growing up in a creative environment, she is the daughter of Henriette, an office worker, and a representative with Neapolitan heritage. Ariane has a brother, Pierre Ascaride, who is a director, and another brother, Gilles Ascaride, who is a writer. Her early exposure to amateur theater, thanks to her father, sparked her interest in performance.
Ascaride is married to renowned French director Robert Guédiguian and is actively involved in social causes as a member of the French Coalition for the Decade for the Culture of Peace and Non-violence.
Her talent has been recognized with several awards, including the César Award for Best Actress in 1998 for her performance in "Marius et Jeannette," and nominations for "Marie-Jo et ses 2 amours" and "Brodeuses." Additionally, she received the Best Actress award at the Valladolid International Film Festival for "The Town Is Quiet" and the Best Actress award at the 2006 Rome Film Festival for "Le Voyage en Arménie."
