Christopher D'Olier Reeve (September 25, 1952 – October 10, 2004) was a multifaceted American actor, director, producer, screenwriter, and author, best known for his iconic role as Superman in the celebrated film series. Reeve's captivating performances brought the legendary superhero to life, earning him acclaim and a lasting legacy in cinematic history.

Tragedy struck on May 27, 1995, when an equestrian accident in Virginia left him a quadriplegic. Despite this life-altering event, Reeve remained resilient, using his platform to advocate for individuals with spinal cord injuries and to promote research in human embryonic stem cells. He established the Christopher Reeve Foundation and played a pivotal role in co-founding the Reeve-Irvine Research Center, both dedicated to advancing medical research and improving the quality of life for those with disabilities.

In his personal life, Reeve married Dana Morosini in April 1992, and they welcomed their son, William, in June of the same year. He also had two children, Matthew, born in 1979, and Alexandra, born in 1983, from his earlier relationship with Gae Exton. Christopher Reeve's legacy extends beyond his film career; he is remembered for his courage, advocacy, and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity.
