Biography

Rodney Arnold Grant, born on March 9, 1959, is a prominent American actor known for his contributions to film and television. A member of the Omaha Tribe, Grant spent his formative years on the Omaha Reservation located in Macy, Nebraska. He gained considerable fame for his portrayal of "Wind In His Hair" in the acclaimed 1990 film Dances with Wolves, which showcased his talent to a wider audience. In addition to this iconic role, he has appeared in several other films, including John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars, Wild Wild West, and Geronimo: An American Legend, among others. His filmography also features titles like White Wolves III: Cry of the White Wolf, Wagons East!, The Substitute, War Party, and Powwow Highway.

On the small screen, Grant took on the character "Chingachgook" in the 1994-1995 television series Hawkeye and has made guest appearances in shows such as Due South, Two, and the Stargate SG-1 episode "Spirits." He also depicted the legendary warrior Crazy Horse in the 1991 TV movie Son of the Morning Star.

In addition to his acting career, Grant has been deeply involved in community service, particularly focusing on youth initiatives as a member of the Native American Advisory Board for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. He is the father of five adult children and currently resides in Southern California.
