Pruitt Taylor Vince, born on July 5, 1960, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a distinguished American character actor known for his versatile roles in film and television. After attending Louisiana State University, Vince started his career with a brief appearance in Jim Jarmusch's Down by Law, though his scenes were ultimately cut. He gained recognition for his supporting performances in notable films, including Mississippi Burning (1988), JFK (1991), and Identity (2003). His first significant lead role came in 1995 with the independent film Heavy, where he portrayed a shy, overweight cook infatuated with Liv Tyler's character.

Vince's ability to switch between heroic and villainous roles has made him a compelling presence on screen. He played a Southern cop in Angel Heart (1987), a kidnapper's accomplice in Trapped (2002), and a disillusioned priest in Constantine (2005).
