Gerard James Butler, born on November 13, 1969, in Scotland, is a versatile actor and producer whose career spans over two decades. Initially pursuing a law degree, Butler shifted gears in the mid-1990s, making his acting debut with small roles in films like *Mrs Brown* (1997) and the James Bond installment *Tomorrow Never Dies* (1997), as well as *Tale of the Mummy* (1998). His breakthrough came in 2000 when he took on the role of Count Dracula in the horror flick *Dracula 2000*. Following that, he showcased his talent in the miniseries *Attila* (2001) and further established himself with roles in *Reign of Fire* (2002) and *Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life* (2003).

Butler's portrayal of Erik, the Phantom, in Joel Schumacher's 2004 adaptation of *The Phantom of the Opera* earned him critical acclaim.
