Biography
Rishi Raj Kapoor was a prominent Indian actor, film director, and producer known for his extensive work in Hindi cinema. Over a remarkable career that spanned five decades, he garnered numerous accolades, including a National Film Award.
Born into the illustrious Kapoor family, Rishi made his acting debut as a child in his father Raj Kapoor's film *Mera Naam Joker* (1970), earning the National Film Award for Best Child Artist. His first leading role came in the romantic drama *Bobby* (1973), where he starred alongside Dimple Kapadia, winning the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. From 1973 to 2000, he became one of the industry's most beloved romantic leads, featuring in 92 films. His illustrious filmography includes hits like *Khel Khel Mein* (1975), *Kabhi Kabhie* (1976), *Amar Akbar Anthony* (1977), *Karz* (1980), *Chandni* (1989), and *Deewana* (1992). Rishi's later work included a critically acclaimed performance in *Do Dooni Chaar* (2010), for which he received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Critics), and he was honored with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. His final film, *Sharmaji Namkeen* (2022), was released posthumously after his passing from leukemia on April 30, 2020, at the age of 67. Rishi Kapoor was married to actress Neetu Singh, and together they had two children.
