Umin Boya, whose real name is Ma Chih-hsiang, is a prominent figure in the Taiwanese indigenous arts scene, recognized for his talents as a writer, director, and actor. He gained significant acclaim as the director of the historical baseball film "Kano," which explores the cultural and historical elements of Taiwan's past through the lens of sports. Additionally, Umin Boya showcased his acting skills in Wei Te-sheng's award-winning film "Seediq Bale," which tells the story of the Seediq people's struggle for freedom. His contributions to cinema not only highlight his creative abilities but also serve to promote and preserve the heritage of Taiwan's indigenous communities.
