Daniel Peter O'Herlihy (May 1, 1919 – February 17, 2005) was a distinguished Irish actor celebrated for his compelling performances across film and television. O'Herlihy is perhaps best recognized for his portrayal of Brigadier General Warren A. "Blackie" Black in the tense Cold War thriller Fail Safe. His remarkable versatility extended to roles such as Marshal Ney in the epic historical drama Waterloo and the sinister Conal Cochran in Halloween III: Season of the Witch. He also made a lasting impression as "The Old Man" in the iconic sci-fi film RoboCop, and as Andrew Packard in the cult classic television series Twin Peaks.
O'Herlihy's talent earned him critical acclaim, culminating in an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his role in the 1954 film Adventures of Robinson Crusoe.
