Kei Tomiyama
Biography
Kei Tomiyama, born Kunichika Tomiyama on October 31, 1938, in Anshan, Manchukuo, was a prominent Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator whose influence spanned several decades until his passing on September 25, 1995. He was associated with esteemed production companies such as Aoni Production and Production Baobab.
Tomiyama garnered widespread recognition for his iconic roles in beloved anime series. He is perhaps best remembered for his portrayal of Naoto Date, also known as Tiger Mask, in the eponymous series, as well as Susumu Kodai in the classic "Space Battleship Yamato." His versatility shone through in his characterizations of Duke Fleed, or Daisuke Umon, in "UFO Robo Grendizer," and as the narrator of the popular Time Bokan series.
In addition to these significant roles, he voiced Nezumi-Otoko in "GeGeGe no Kitaro" (3rd Series) and contributed to the charm of "Chibi Maruko-chan" as Tomozō Sakura and Shintarō Honami. Tomiyama also left an indelible mark on the sci-fi genre with his performance as Yang Wen-li in "Legend of the Galactic Heroes." His extensive body of work and distinctive voice made him a cherished figure in the anime industry, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to influence voice acting today.
