Shun Sugata, born Masamichi Shibuya on February 17, 1955, in Yamanashi, Japan, is a distinguished character actor known for his compelling portrayals of menacing figures. With his resonant voice and formidable presence, Sugata has become a recognizable face in the realm of Japanese cinema, often embodying violent and villainous characters.
Among his most acclaimed performances is the role of Takayama, a fearsome mob enforcer, in Takeshi Miike's cult classic "Ichi the Killer." His portrayal of the corrupt police commissioner in "Tokyo Gore Police" also stands out, showcasing his ability to bring depth to morally ambiguous roles.
