Kari Väänänen
Biography
Kari Kyösti Väänänen, born on September 17, 1953, in Ivalo, Finland, is a distinguished actor and director. He is affiliated with the Ryhmäteatteri ensemble, a prominent group of Finnish performers. Väänänen gained recognition on the international stage through collaborations with acclaimed filmmaker Aki Kaurismäki, becoming one of his favored actors.
One of Väänänen's most demanding performances came in the film Rosso, where he portrayed a mafia assassin. For this role, he memorized his lines phonetically, despite having no prior knowledge of the Italian language. He also made a notable appearance in the Finnish science fiction parody Star Wreck, in which he took on the role of the Russian president.
