John Hallam
Biography
John William Francis Hallam (28 October 1941 – 14 November 2006) was a renowned character actor hailing from Northern Ireland.
Born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, Hallam built a diverse career in both film and television, featuring in notable productions such as Nicholas and Alexandra (1971), Murphy's War (1971), The Pallisers (1974), The Mallens (1979), and Flash Gordon (1980). He also appeared in Dragonslayer (1981) and contributed to the BBC's adaptations of Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1989), as well as Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991). Additionally, he is remembered for his role as McTaggart in the director's cut of the iconic 1973 film The Wicker Man.
Hallam gained recognition for his appearance in the science fiction series Doctor Who, where he portrayed the alien character known as "Light" in the 1989 serial Ghost Light. Furthermore, he was known for his role as Barnsey, the prison cellmate of Den Watts in the popular soap opera EastEnders.
John Hallam passed away on November 14, 2006, in Clifton, Oxfordshire, England, at the age of 65. At the time of his death, he was divorced and was the father of four children.
