Biography
Letitia Michelle Wright, born on October 31, 1993, is an accomplished actress from the United Kingdom. She embarked on her acting journey with minor roles in several television programs, including Top Boy, Coming Up, Chasing Shadows, Humans, Doctor Who, and Black Mirror. Her performance in "Black Mirror" earned her a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. Wright's career took a significant turn with her performance in the 2015 film Urban Hymn, which led the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) to recognize her as one of the BAFTA Breakthrough Brits that year.
Her portrayal of Shuri in the 2018 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Black Panther catapulted her to international fame. For this role, she was honored with both an NAACP Image Award and a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award. Wright reprised her iconic character in subsequent Marvel films, including Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). In 2019, she was awarded the BAFTA Rising Star Award, further solidifying her place in the industry. Additionally, she showcased her talent in Steve McQueen's 2020 anthology series Small Axe, which garnered her a nomination for a Satellite Award.
