David James Elliott
Biography
David James Elliott is a prominent Canadian actor recognized for his iconic portrayal of Harmon Rabb Jr. in the long-running television series "JAG." Born as David Smith, he adopted the stage name David James Elliott after relocating to Los Angeles to avoid confusion with another actor of the same name.
Elliott made his film debut in the 1986 comedy "Police Academy 3: Back in Training." He gained early television experience in series such as "Street Legal," "Knots Landing" as Bill Nolan, and "The Untouchables" in 1993 as Agent Paul Robbins. The following year, he appeared in the popular series "Melrose Place" and even had a memorable guest role on "Seinfeld" as Carl, an anti-abortion furniture mover.
In 1995, Elliott secured the role that would define a decade of his career: naval aviator-turned-JAG lawyer Harmon Rabb Jr. on "JAG," which aired until 2005. He starred in the made-for-TV movie "Holiday Affair" in 1996 and portrayed the character Terry Evanshen in "The Man Who Lost Himself" (2005), highlighting his versatility as an actor.
Elliott's career continued with roles in shows like "Close to Home," "The Guard," and "CSI: NY." In 2012, he co-starred in the comedy-drama "GCB." He further showcased his talent in "Mad Men" (2014) and "Scorpion" (2015). Elliott also played John Wayne in the film "Trumbo." Notably, on March 29, 2019, he announced his return as Harmon Rabb Jr. for a multi-episode arc in "NCIS: Los Angeles."
