Hugo Haas
Biography
Hugo Haas (February 18, 1901 – December 1, 1968) was a prominent figure in the Czech film industry, recognized as an actor, director, and writer. Over the span of his career from 1926 to 1962, he featured in more than 60 films and took the helm as director for 20 films between 1933 and 1962. Born in Brno, Moravia (present-day Czech Republic), Haas's life concluded in Vienna, Austria, where he passed away due to complications related to asthma. He came from a musically inclined family, as his brother Pavel Haas (1899–1944) gained acclaim as a composer.
Haas's contributions to cinema extended beyond acting, as he was involved in multiple facets of filmmaking, showcasing his versatility in the industry. His legacy endures through his significant body of work, which reflects the vibrant cultural landscape of his time.
