Biography
Tommy Noonan, originally named Thomas Noone, was born on April 29, 1921, and passed away on April 24, 1968. He was a multifaceted talent in the world of entertainment, known for his work as a comedian, screenwriter, and producer. Over the span of his career from the 1940s to the 1960s, Noonan appeared in 65 projects, which included both notable films and lesser-known B movies, in addition to making various television appearances.
He gained significant recognition for his supporting roles, particularly as Gus Esmond, the affluent fiancé of Lorelei Lee, portrayed by Marilyn Monroe, in the classic film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953). Noonan also showcased his musical talents as Danny McGuire in the 1954 film A Star Is Born.
Notably, he carved a unique niche by being a romantic lead for three iconic actresses of the era, often referred to as the "3 Ms" of Hollywood's Golden Age: in addition to his collaboration with Monroe, he portrayed love interests to both Jayne Mansfield in Promises... Promises! (1963) and Mamie Van Doren in 3 Nuts in Search of a Bolt (1964), which he also directed.
